Author Topic: Need Good Modeling Program!  (Read 2795 times)

Whats a good modeling program besides Milkshape?
Will Google Sketchup Work?

You need a program that can accurately export to DTS, there is only MS3D, Blender, 3DS Max and Shaper, but Shaper pretty much is MS3D and costs money.

Blender is the only free one.

But you need a DTS exporter.

You can't export directly from Sketchup to DTS for a start. You'd need an intermediary program between sketchup and torque like Milkshape. However you can't export as .obj from Sketchup without buying Sketchup pro, and milkshape wont import any formats from the free version of sketchup.

Indeed.

I can export quality models to .dts from a sketchup save format if anyone needs it. Give me the sketchup and I'll send you it back in .dts. Although I reserve the right to say no to rubbish models or people.

Spaceguy mentioned a plugin not too long ago that allowed you to export as dts.

Even if you do find an exporter, your not going to be able to make weapons because you cant add joints in sektchup (as far as i know.)

The only add-on for sektchup that would help is the opj exporter which is free.  Ive had problems with (cant figure it out.)  Then all you would need it the obj to dts program thats over on the torque website.

Blender.
Hard to learn, but very useful once you learn how.
