Author Topic: Ketchup = Catsup  (Read 1485 times)

I was just reading in the dictionary and I came across the word "ketchup".
The definition said-- See catsup.
Catsup is the actual spelling/definition of ketchup. Ketchup is slang.
Now my avatar makes sense.

actually on wikipedia it says

Ketchup (also spelled catsup or catchup), also known as tomato ketchup, tomato sauce, red sauce, Tommy sauce, Tommy K, or dead horse,[1] is a condiment, usually made from tomatoes.*

*well i would hope it was.

Wikipedia is not the most reliable source, anyone could go change it. I could go there now and say it is spelled Catsup.

catsup comes before ketchup alphabetically

I was loling at burger king with their 'Catsup Only" on my receipt.

But you can't say it out loud without looking like an idiot.

I prefer Ketchup.
I call it Tomato Sauce
Tomato Sauce ≠ Ketchup/Catsup/Catchup
