Finding a good aussie ISP

I'm trying to find a good Australian internet provider thats not over-priced, and is good value for money.

I'm sick of dealing with bigpond and their stuff, seeing I pay $80 a month for 12 gigs download, and I never go over 156KB/s download speed.

So far I've only found exetel, and they look pretty promising.

The plan I'm looking at is the 8192kbps Down/384 up TELM plan.

My friends recommend internode, but i'd have to fork out waaaayyy to much a month for to little downloads.
I've also had a little look at netspace, but I'm not sure how reliable they are.

Anyone with exetel, or know of a good value for money Australian ISP?

im not an Australian.

but from people I've talked to over there, and crap I've heard, they got some of the stufftiest net there is lol.
and i dont mean speed-wise. i mean as far as the world wide web supports.

many a game i seen in my nerding out, the ones hosted on Aussie servers.
not only cost ridiculously more, but have stuffty ass connections, that even aussie people are better off connecting way over to Canadian servers.

Yeh, but the problem is, I HAVE to change to something. Bigpond are a bunch of greedy friends, and 12 gigs just isn't enough :(

Like even right now, I'm slowed to 64KB/s (Which in australian internet terms means 2KB/s download speed) and I have to wait a week for it to be reset.

what are your cable and dsl options
(if you want faster then 12, right away im going to assume DSL is a joke lol.  1.5mbit yayyyy)


if cable is anything like it is here, regions are owned by 1 company, so you really don't have another choice.
its just the speed your willing to pay for then.

satellite can be fast, not sure how fast though, there could be few options there.

but i dont see why 12 isnt enough lol.

its great for if you like to download 50 files at once on your p2p app,
or share your connection with 4 other computers or xbox's
but even a 4-5m is more then enough for 1 person. websites,games, downloads really will only upload to you at thier limited allowed speed. so you still get no advantage

= 1500 kps
most places on net will never allow you to have that much bandwidth from them anyway
so its really about your net multi tasking, or multi computers



god i just realized DSL people have roughly 190 kps.
that's like the new dial up of internet, how can people even use that

I think I will just go with the 8192kbps Down/384 kbps Up exetel plan. I'd have another 48 gigs to throw around, and the speed is pretty decent too (In australian standards)

Now I just need to put it past my parents, and explain that the internet doesn't come through the chimney.

Edit: I just need to wait for exetel support to run a speed test for me.

Apparently from Speedtest.net this is my Download and upload speed. I looked around and it said it was better then 96% of the world. If you can get Verizon then I suggest you get it.
