I'm on vista right this moment and it's not that bad.

Until I want to run something...

Is XP is working fine for you, I see no reason to switch. With all the anti Vista cigarettes running around most programs are designed with XP in mind anyway. If you play anything with the magical power of DX10 you'd have to switch obviously, but once again all those games come in DX9 too. They just don't look as good.

If you use more than 4GB RAM(System total) you'll want Vista 64 bit because XP 64 is lol.

Vista: Easy to navigate, for people new at computers. Slow, but looks pretty.

XP: Faster, harder to navigate, but more compatible with things. It looks fine, but you can get it to look like Vista.

I've used both, I prefer XP.

I use vista, and I play many games.
Everything runs fine, and my only problem is it likes to randomly  change what type of view a folder is set to for some reason, and I know it isn't a virus because it's done this from day 1.

no, just nothing is backwards compatible. if your not a gamer though it might be worth it

Excuse me for my ability to run DOS games and almost any game made around 1998.

I always thought the max for 32-bit was 2GB RAM.

It's four, but it's shared with stuff like your video card's memory I believe. So if you have 4GB of RAM sticks, the actual amount that can be used is four minus all your other RAM.

Vista's good if you have a good enough computer, especially because of DX10.

XP is only good if your computer can't handle Vista or high qualities, that's why I use XP :(

Extra tip for Vista: Don't get Home Basic, Business or the ones that suck. Go for something like Home Premium.

I still don't get what makes Ultimate so special.

It's got everything for a forgetload of cash.

I prefer Home Premium, it's got good stuff and sorta cheap.

Vista runs all my games flawlessly.  Now if I only I felt like sending in my laptop to fix the overheating GPU, do something about the finicky ram, and fix all of my driver instabilities, I would actually have a good laptop.
