I'm still liking the "500 points or a vote" to become a Gold. yuki, change this into a poll once we have enough ideas on how to become a Gold.

You stole that idea right out of my head (Which, by the way, came from other forums, mind you). Make it so that you can only give/take away 1 rep point a day and you have to at least have 50 posts to start. All off-topic posts don't count towards those 50 and any spam posts seen by Badspot could be removed from the 50. I think if you were to get like 500 rep, you would become an "Elite". If you drop below that 500, you would have to re-earn how ever many points you lost. This system might get rid of a lot of negative comments that other users *Cough*yuki*Cough* produce.

The forum that I saw this on, you had rep "power" based on a formulae consisting of your posts, your rep, and a few other variables. Your power was how many points you could give or take away from someone, and you could only give/take away from one person every once in a while, like a month, I think.

Gold Membership is ultimately different with Reputation System. They work in different ways but they relate the same idea. They differ in the right to earn a rank in a community. One is through cash, and one is through community popularity. I'd vote for reputation system, IMO.

ya the gold thing would work but the problem would be, all the nub-ish forums(which is where I'd be :P)would be TOO nooby, i mean like for example: say i go to the help section, i would ask, hey does any one know where i could get some scripting help? and the very first reply would be "W00T FIRST and u can find it in ur mom LOL"
