Well, the Civil War was about the south not wanting to be told what to do, cultural differences and all, and slaves were made free as a big "forget You" to the south. Not that they didn't want to end slavery, but it sure pissed off the Confederacy.

I believe peaceful. People love the norm. Especially all the white supremacists in our country. I am not endorsing killing a presidential elect at all. But attempted assassinations will be very high. The same would be for John McCain if he was president. The black panthers would try to kill him. So the argument goes on both sides.

I think anyone hating the US is more or less interested in murdering Bush right now, regardless of his political position.

Besides, there have been something like 6 attempts on Obama so far that I know of, the others are speculation and I won't go there. The secret service protects the political parties and their representatives, and trust me when I say it's allot easier for another state to do some damage elsewhere instead of trying to get past the secret services to assassinate someone.
