Reflect projectiles that hit that part of your body? (Front on left side, say)

The brick placer model is perfect - it covers exactly half your body. I used that for my Shield in v8.

on topic: do want. here's a suggestion for your suggestion: maybe have different designs on the front of the shield if not possible to make them changable

why not have it a playertype? having your left hand block your frontside when you rightclick. and you have another weapon in your right hand. then it could easily work.
