...confusingly named?

anyways, it was just a suggestion man

no need to freak out about it, you could just say you don't want to use it.

It was either you or Yuki or someone who just made huge quadrouple-barreled names for weapons. Anyway since the target audience for RTB is actually kids, it needs to be simple and friendly - and kids love clouds.

I like the idea of giving it a new name.

Time for a new poll?

No point until we have a selection of names to vote on.

oh, yeah, yuki made that weird GEOPD-whatever

he could have just named them drop-bombs or something like that, but no.

anyways, i didn't realize RTB had a target audience at all
same with blockland, it never occured to me it had anything to do with kids, it just happens to attract them in droves

i've got a punny one: Why So Cirrus? WSC?

Well, I could give some suggestions, but I need to know what kind of name you're looking for.
Is there some kind of meaning behind this Cloud name?

RTB is basically a form of cloud computing

therefor it has to be cloud related

The in-game portion of RTB is essentially designed for kids to use - hence the Infomaniac for example.  Typically kids are the ones having the most trouble understanding the game/add-ons etc. and they do make up the vast majority of players so it's common sense to target them as the ideal user. You can see from RTB usage graphs that at peak times, RTB capacity is only at about 50%:

I agree with this more than anything I've read on these forums.

It would be better if it was named "Cloud". Simple and easy to remember.

Oh, do make an icon with Mocheeze's balloon amongst some clouds, it'd make such a darling picture.

BLC is a good play on DLC.

I don't mind acronyms as long as they don't stand for anything.

I think limiting it to clouds because of cloud computing isn't a great idea. It makes me feel like we're trying to jump on the buzzword bandwagon. I don't really see what RTB has to do with cloud computing anyway, or rather, I don't see what part of it behaves like a cloud. It's a download manager and a chat program. It doesn't store your preferences or add-ons or anything so you can load them up on any copy of Blockland.

If you're insisting on a cloud themed name though I'd just recommend Cirrus.

I thought about Blockpop and Brickwire as possible names, I don't really know if limiting it to bricks is a great idea though. Tons of mods and fan sites did the same thing, it's been done before and it's not cool anymore.

I like the word wire, since we are sending content through them, but we were kind of already beat to it by limewire, livewire, frostwire and firewire.

Boast - its a merge between Blockland and post, it makes me think of kind of an advertising agency for content makers.
Boost - changing the a in boast to an o in case boast sounds too pretentious. It reminds me of something that lets you boost your addon audience as well as boost your game.
Kraken - how awesome would it be to have a giant squid searching for addons for you? It's a rhetorical question, the correct answer is 'very'
Beam - addons are beamed to your computer through patented cutting-edge technology called "Internet." it's a parody on steam, but with a b for blockland

I like beam.

RTB is moving towards cloud computing in the future. Newer versions will feature online save archiving, clan management, persistent server rankings (to be explained), add-on backup (so you can download your add-ons to any computer you're playing on) and again, clouds are awesome and simple. Kids won't recognise that we're jumping on the buzzword bandwagon either - they'll just like the clouds. The point is RTB won't just be limited to Add-Ons and Chat.

Been wanting for when I take my key somewhere else,

hey do you think there will be a temporary file deleter to clean out the files you got from servers?

Back to Blockland =D

By the way, you should change the poll to suggested names for people to vote on. I mean, if you want our opinion, but Cloud Computing sounds nice too, just, where do you get Cloud?
