Author Topic: Name change.  (Read 1946 times)

Not that anybody really cares, but I (Something) has changed my name to Hephaestus. I don't know why, but I think it's better.

Don't change your avatar or I'll completly forget who you are! D:

Hephaestus (pronounced /hɨˈfiːstəs/ or /hɨˈfɛstəs/; Greek Ἥφαιστος Hēphaistos) was a Greek god whose Roman equivalent was Vulcan. He was the god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes. Like other mythic smiths but unlike most other gods, Hephaestus was lame, which gave him a grotesque appearance in Greek eyes. He served as the blacksmith of the gods, and he was worshipped in the manufacturing and industrial centers of Greece, particularly in Athens. The center of his cult was in Lemnos.

"Lame" means handicapped or disfigured.

no, it just means disfigured

IE, a lame horse has a broken leg

you're lame after you're kneecapped

Yes. And relating to your previous post, okay.

Why did you change to the shunned god of forgery anyway?

Hephaestus may be symbolic of the effects of incestuous relationships and the higher chance of genetic defects. So even the ancient Greeks knew something about cousin lovin'.

Or some stuff, it's been four years now since that literature class which was nothing but ancient Greek epics.

If you read the description, he makes and constructs stuff. He's also the god of technology; but back then, he was responsible for the wheel, stuff like that. He's a Greek epic god.

LAME is an open source application used to encode audio into the MP3 file format. The name LAME is a recursive acronym for LAME Ain't an MP3 Encoder, reflecting LAME's early history when it was not actually an encoder, but merely a set of patches against the freely available ISO demonstration source code.
