Author Topic: I love free admins...  (Read 6685 times)

I find it hard to believe that all of you can put a positive spin on wantonly abusing "free admin" servers.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. These people are placing a significant amount of trust in the players that join there server, and I can't blame them for wanting to get more players in their server.

Furthermore, there is no real gain from inflicting this pain. None of you are the designated "teach-new-players-a-lesson-bullies". In fact, the only real threat they face from handling out admin is from rude older members such as yourselves going around preaching to them about a threat whcih you in turn are creating.

All this does is cause newer members to be more distrustful and angry towards other BL players, especially older ones.

Even if their shallow "free admin" ploy is successful, it is hardly worth fighting over the few younger members the technique attracts. It's not robbing your server of your in-game buddies.

In conclusion:

  • There is no significant threat to advise against giving out admin, only the threat that older members will decide to teach them a lesson about this perceived threat.
  • Nobody made you the designated teacher/judge of BL. Your just being a bully.
  • "Free admin" servers aren't causing any trouble, nor inflicting upon you any injury.

Now, before I get answered by the wave of "well I can, so I will" and "for the lulz" rebuttals, I will just remind people of the golden rule. You wouldn't want one of your trusted friends (and hence admins) unfairly clearing all your bricks, so why betray the trust of others?

The golden rule: Treat others how you want to be treated.

For the lulz.

Seriously though, I agree with your post 100%.

Spennys banned now :(

Sorry, but that rule doesn't exactly apply on the internet. >:)

Haha, Sgt. Pepper is banned.

Good riddance. I'm sure Badspot doesn't like people ruining the game experience for people who may not tell friends because of it.

Well...

1. It's their fault for trusting random people.
2. Don't be a richard and take advantage of them.
3. Just don't, jackass.

Isn't this like the 5th time someone has been banned for doing stuff like this?

Don't they ever learn?

You take advantage on them because it's like a prank.

1. It's funny
2. They should know in the first place not to trust random members
3. They can fix the perma-bans in less than 30 seconds, sending their banned friends a PM, telling them to come back.

But destroying everything isn't recoverable, unless they happened to have a recent save.

Alot of the newer blocklanders don't have forums accounts, and some don't even view the forums.

I'm talking about in RTB. Then again, they might not have that, either. Oh well.

what if you have no emotions?
