It sounds like a hard drive error. Does it shot the splash for the mobo? If so, do you have another Hard drive? Try that one. If it works, HDD failure. Have fun, I would suggest Western Digital, I like them. It not..then your Sata cord is fried, or your mobo is borked. Also try unplugging your CD drive. That should not be it, but it might be, depending on who made your Mobo.

Mobo=Motherboard
HDD=Hardrive
OD=Optical Drive [Did I use this?]
SATA=Card that connects your mobo to HDD

It seems to be okay for now. I uninstalled refresher.

Try UPGRADING to XP.
Vista is fine. It's an improvment to XP. Don't try to start a vista/xp war.

Take out one or your HDDs, then the other. If one fails, then you know who to blame. If one fails, it'll give you that error.
