Well, we've been reading Shakespeare in english, and it made me think "why do we read such idiotic books that have grammar from 400 years ago that you can't understand?" anyone else ever read Shakespeare? Did yo understand it? Is there any other idiotic books you've read in english? Discuss.

The only book I read that was stupid was Oedipus Rex. Eye gouging and incest is not what I look for in a book.

Your a dumb nut.

Shakespeare is really not that hard to adjust to. Also what are you reading? I've read a midsummer night dream, hamlet and several others. I loved them and they were funny at some points.

I dare you, I DARE YOU! to say that to either a prof or even a high school teacher and watch them word rage on you.

In conclusion I hate you.

You're dumb, Shakespeare wasn't hard.

Last semester in English, we had to read Romeo and Juliet, then interpret almost every scene into modern English, talk about a bitch of frustration.

I just hate history, and Shakespeare is easy. Just, I had to do this conphrehension(SP?) sheet on it. It sucked:
What was the conflict in the story?

Are you kidding me?

I never even liked Freshmen English yet I never found it challenging at all.

Shakespeare isn't hard at all. I've enjoyed reading his plays. I found Romeo & Juliet, along with Othello to be quite interesting.
On the other hand, A Midsummer Night's Dream was complete horse rooster.

lol, shakespeare

try beowulf, fool

The movie was utter stuff, so that kind of keeps me away from reading the book. I don't even read books unless it's an assignment, actually.

Well my Mother was an english teacher for almost all my life (Now shes a guidance counselor) And I guess thats where I get my book likeing...ness from. I pretty much read every night a couple hours before bed.

Wut.
If it's hard to understand and it's a published book/play, exactly how is it idiotic? In saying you don't understand it you make yourself seem idiotic. Also I understood Romeo and Juliet perfectly.

Although I particularly hate Shakespeare.

Alright, let's burn every old book, because they have old grammar.
