Tip: Open up a single-player server and experiment using ramps for windows, instead of just using plain bricks. It gives the build an interesting, detailed look.

Also, hang around in servers with people like Mr. //Reformist himself and other respected, good builders such as Facechild and look at the detail they put in their builds.

Have an idea of what you want to build. Don't just make a house by building some walls and slapping on a door; picture a house in your head and figure out how you can make it with bricks.

Try placing more slopes then flats
Add detail (Pebbles on a road is a great example)
Foilage (Probly the hardest to master, and not the green hedge either)
Diffrent Colors (No black and white builds but dont overdose)

Add Lights EVERYWHERE
