I eat a ton and I'd say I'm pretty fit. I don't need a doctor to tell me that.

how would you know you have a fast metabolism without medical knowledge?
by knowing how much you eat compared to how much weight you gain or lose??

yeah but how would you really know

what if you eat just enough to survive but you decide to think its equivalent to eating a ton of food. of course youre not going to gain weight and just say "its fast metabolism"

Then you don't know anything about metabolism.

I can't speak for other people but on a daily basis I only eat one meal and one snack. I just happen to have a really low requirement for food, and the logical assumption would be that if I started eating 3 meals a day I would start gaining weight. However that's not really how it works for me, when I binge eat for even weeks on end I won't gain a single pound. Since I moved into college I've been eating a stuff LOAD of junk food and really high calorie fast food, and I actually weigh less than I did the day I arrived. It's weird.

Then you don't know anything about metabolism.
this "metabolism" guy can kiss my ass

yeah but how would you really know
I think most people know at least a few human beings to compare themselves to

Rally and I had a really lovely discussion about this earlier on in this thread.

Basically, to gain weight, you have to eat food that is high is fat or protein (or both) and either work out (to gain muscle mass) or slow your daily movement down to practically nothing. A lot of people eat a lot and don't gain weight because their body will just absorb the bare minimum. It does this, because it is used to using the bare minimum.

In other words, in your order gain mass, and therefore weight, you have to make your body use the nutrients you put in it. But, younger people tend to burn up their energy/mass due to being so much more hormonal and active. Once people get old and slow, their body stores their mass for later use (should times get tough).
