Author Topic: Can I get my PS3 to work with my PC monitor?  (Read 2776 times)

Pretty sure the changes don't come into effect until you restart the system.

You'd have to change it back, possibly. It depends on what your TV supports.

TV is 42' LG 1080P if that helps and that's the res I have it on for the PS3 right now.

This one right here http://news.compusa.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/lg-facing-lfet.jpg

To be honest, I can't really think straight at this time of morning, but if your PS3 is on that at the moment and you're getting an error, I think maybe it's the wrong setting.

Its not an error, it is the screen that is saying the "out of range adjust to 1680 x 1050 - 60HZ" then after a while it just goes black my one friend said that my computer screen is doing that probably because it cannot handle the res its on now might this be true?.

Look, just plug the PS3 into your TV and mess around with the settings that Spation posted about, then plug the PS3 back to your monitor and check if it works.
Rinse and repeat.

Yeah I will try that soon thanks for all the help I will post later with results and Vertzer what is your PS3 name?.

Yeah, when an object tells you something, then stops completely, I consider what it told you to be either a dying wish, or an error.

Okay I got it all to work, messed around with the settings like Spation said and it looks pretty nice so thanks for help.

So recently I wanted to play PS3 but I cant because my dad is watching TV and we only have one good TV in our house which is an 42" LG 1080P LCD TV. And I play PS3 on there whenever I can but my dad likes to watch TV  as well and so he brought up the fact of hooking up my PS3 to my PC screen which is an 22" HP w2207 monitor. So then I went and found some conversion stuff for the pc that I got from graphics cards and I had one from HDMI to DVI and I use an HDMI cord when I run my PS3. So I fired it up and plugged it in to my monitor and it said "out of range adjust to 1680 x 1050 - 60HZ". And so I tried it on my dads 22" monitor to see if it said the same thing and it did. Then I went in to the PS3 settings and tried to change anything but no success does anyone have and suggestions or have had the same problem but got it to work if so please share.
1080p has a resolution of 1920×1080.  Your monitor can support a maximum of 1680x 1050.  What you can do is hook your ps3 up to your tv, change your resolution to something less than or equal to 1680x 1050.  Your tv should still work in this mode, everything will just seem larger or lower definition(like when you change to 800x600 on a computer).  Have fun.
