Author Topic: The brick limit  (Read 1102 times)

Would it be possible, in the future, to have the option of increasing the now-128k brick limit while in single-player mode?

I understand that the current limit was made in consideration for loading times on multiplayer servers, and that the only way to enable additional bricks would also exponentially increase the data size of the entire build.  However, would this be as much of a problem in single-player?

Using multiple saves helps as a workaround for sprawled builds like cities and such, but for builds which can't be so easily partitioned, it's tricky to limit work to only one half then meticulously demolish the other before every save.

So could the brick limit be raised, or would it be too tricky a process, affecting too few people to be worth it?

But why, I doubt anyone has reached that brick limit before.

A quick search of the forum would show that, in fact, people have.

As have I, which motivated the suggestion.

How big is the build to reach that far of a numba?!

Would you mind elaborating?

I built a 1x1F tower before, 127999 bricks high.
I hit it with the duplicator, lagged for a bit, then planted.

Thus, 255998 bricks.

How long did that take you?

I thought the brick limit had something to do with datablock limits
