Author Topic: Can you please change the demo recording file?  (Read 1217 times)

Okay, for v11 of Blockland, can you please change the file type from .rec to .mov? I don't like the fact that I can't watch or post those files on Youtube, and I don't like screen recorders, don't flame either because it's a waste of time and to all flamers: GET A LIFE!!!!!!!! So Badspot or any other person working on v11, please :panda:   :'(

You're obviously new, so lemme tell you something. Buy Fraps, the ingame recorder is buggy and doesn't work half the time.

The .rec files just a recording of in game events.  They contain no video data.  If you want a video file then you have to use a screen recorder.

So it records the locations of players and objects continuously?

Does this mean we could play them back, in-game, to show other people an event (an action, not the event system)?

They used to be able to be played back like that, but they required a huge amount of loading which froze up the game and occasionally messed up. If you look at the "Push Broom DM" video (on Blockland.us) closely you'll see one of the player names as "MsgPlayerScoreChanged" instead of what it should be. Because of this, the Play button was removed from the main menu.

We've said it a million times. The recording system is entirely buggy and was not meant to be in the final version of Blockland. The fact that there are keybinds for it are questionable and it's pretty much just helpful to remove the keybinds for it (They get annoying on a major scale.)

Just use FRAPS.
And please for gods sake just buy it. We hate seeing low-quality movies and stupid watermarks because people couldn't afford it.

Or could you maybe make an add-on screen recorder, I have a Mac and can't use the good free screen recorders, maybe someone could do that. And if the .rec files aren't very useful, why put them in?
