Talk to a few girls and find one you like, Not because of her looks, But her personality. Or someone thats cute not like the smoking hot chick with humongo tits.
The reason this is good advice is because the girl with the good looks is more likely to go around with any guy because she can get away with it. Same works the other way around.
A major problem seems to be the fact that people are actually looking. I think you shouldn't worry about it, just be friendly. Eventually you tend to get closer, but don't look forward to it. Let yourself think that being friends is a great thing.(don't have to be all gentlemen-like, friendly as in, doing things that you both enjoy. I actually have gotten closer to someone by getting bitched at, and by bitching back.)
Keep your expectations low. Bad things seem not too bad, and good things seem great when you do this.
