Author Topic: Total load bar  (Read 987 times)

If it would be possible, it would be nice to have a load bar that in instead of showing how much of a file is loaded up, but in instead how much of everything overall. That way we could tell if loading a server would take forever and about how much longer we have to wait.

yes this would be very handy.

I don't think its really possible, but it probably is just a real pain in the ass to do. Get RTB and check the servers info before you join.

What about the non-rtb servers?

A lot more information would have to be exchanged (i.e. the total number of files necessary and the sum of all their file sizes) prior to downloading.

The way loading works now, datablocks are sent to the client one by one.  If the client reports that it does not have one of the files for the current datablock, the server sends it.

Rewriting the game / engine to perform differently would be an unnecessary bitch.

Hmmm... what if it was an rtb feature though?
Not to say what you have to download file ways, but just have the file download window in the bottom left corner to show your progress on downloading the server's add-ons.

What if it had a tick on the server information window for all the add-ons you have in your add-ons folder, then the information tells you how big the size is of all the add-ons you haven't downloaded.

I guess you didn't understand me.  The client only knows about the one file at a time that its downloading.  This feature just isn't important enough to put any sort of work into making.  If you don't want to wait, just leave the server.  You can still chat to keep yourself entertained.

 Maybe the writing is Geek'd

Client's computer should creates a list of needed add-ons/maps.

personally, its not really needed unless your new to BL and dont have any mods
