ALL HAIL THE HE (W)HORE.

Sure thy have their place.

My elementary school had the following games (all on early macs except where noted):

Gizmos and Gadgets
Dinosaur Tycoon
Read, Write and Type (windows 95)
Oregon Trail (apple II)
Math Blaster (I could have sworn it was on the apple II)
Jumpstart Typing
Jumpstart Third grade

One mac in my third grade classroom had Snood and ELIZA.

I hope these help if you need examples. You're probably familiar with a few, a quick google search will give you more information on any title if you need it. Some of the publishers have gone bankrupt or been bought up, so you might not be able to find the publisher's site for a citation if you need one. Good luck.

You could use video games in art classes or English class.

How they could be used-

Gives examples of many types of art. (Anime, Cartoon, Realistic, and so on) (Art Class)
Most video games have stories so basically they are interactive books. It could teach students different forms of writing. (English Class)
Teaches what people are interested in like whats popular and whats not. (Economics Class?)
They make learning less repetitive and more fun! (All)

These are just a few!

My middle school tech class had Gizmos and Gadgets on Mac. As well as Simcity 2000 and The Incredible Machine.

Now that I think of it, The Incredible Machine is one of my favorite games.

Incredible Machine is one of my favorite games.

YES WIN BEST GAME EVER now if only i could get a copy of it :(

Don't make them take notes and make it seem boring. If you're interested in the subject you're talking about and/or want to get a good grade, then do great on it.

Try using L4D, teaches you how to survive a zombie apocalypse.
