Author Topic: FPS dropping on dust2 and other maps  (Read 1947 times)

On de_dust2 in CSS, my fps drops from 75 to around 20 on de_dust2, around long A.

On de_dust, when entering tunnel from near T spawn looking at the gate thing across from the entrance, I get 12. This never happened before, wtf is going on?

Oh, forgot:

1280x960, all settings high except vsync and HDR, running nVidia 8600 GT.

It could probably be your computer rendering all the faces of round things. Whats your specs?

You most likely have a program/spyware/malware running in the background bogging down your system.

Close all background programs and rerun the quality test video on the main menu

If that doesnt solve it then you may need a better graphics card because thats what happened when tf2 maps lagged for me

I have a fine graphics card, the problem might be my stuff processor and its speed, but it was all fine before.

And it's only in a certain area of the map.

Mine's 8500GT, a bit weaker, yet I don't usually run CSS at such a resolution, though I can play nicely in de_dust2 on 1280x1024. If reducing your resolution doesn't help, then it's most probably your CPU or something.

I have an 8400 and I can run CSS at full settings :D

Like I said, I play fine as well, mostly high settings, 60+ fps. But it's Long A that drops me to 20, and it only happens occasionally. de_dust is the problem because of the thing opposite of the terrorist side tunnel entrance.

Awesome card. :D
I has the 9 Version, works great but my processor bogs it down on the newer games.

I'd update but I need more moneyz :(

Funny thing is, I turned vsync off to get a better framerate but this didn't happen with it on.

I guess I only need vsync off in the orange box engine.

Doesn't vsync cap your frame rates to the refresh rate of your monitor?

It does.

Same card, same occurance.

Tried Defragging your games?
