Author Topic: The Way Death Works; A Short Comic to Answer Your Questions  (Read 5032 times)

In my opinion, people that want to know "what comes next" aren't caught up enough in what is happening in their lives already. My reasoning has always been to respect all the ideas people put forth about what will happen when you die, and just see for myself when I die. If it's worse than what I have now, at least I know I used what I have now to the fullest; and if it's the better then I'll use that to the full instead of wondering what comes after the thing that comes after death.

TL;DR: live in the moment.

On topic: will post my WIP comic soon :D

Shut the forget up about this god loving damn Christian war. For ducks sake, only like, 3 posts on page 2 was on topic

Fixed.

20x better then the original

Haha, It's kickass how Badspot always makes stuff funnier, but only at the best times.

To be honest I don't care. But here's something to think about;
  • If you're an atheist and you die and there isnt a god, then you're fine. But if there is a god, then BOOM you're screwed over
  • If you do belive in god and you die and there isnt a god, then you're fine. But if there is a god, then you're still fine!
Just something to think about...

Ah, my good sir, that would be Pascal's Wager.

I'm afraid his conclusion (that you should believe in god to "play it safe") was logically flawed for at the very least two reasons:

1)No way to be sure which religion to follow. Pick the wrong one out of hundreds of possible choices and you still end up in hell.
2)Believing in a god simply because you "want to play it safe" is not genuine faith and as such, would not likely warrant a ticket to paradise, should it exist.

If a fellow atheist needs comfort I might add that were a god to exist, I should sincerely hope that he considers actions more important than faith. I don't believe in a god, nor pray at any altar or read the bible, but at the same I don't go running around killing people, stealing property or generally inflicting a significant amount of injury on others. I choose to live for myself and for my passions and not for a possible afterlife; if that is not enough then so be it.

Though it's ironic to say:

Amen brother.

No.

If a god wanted to have me worship him, she would get of his lazy ass and come down/up and say worship me damn it.

I want to apologize for the TERRIBLE phrasing of my earlier post... you know, the one that pissed everyone off? Anyway, I'm sorry about that. Pretty much anyone who has posted earlier has phrased my beliefs better than myself. Particularly Reactor Worker and Jervan... Sooo, yeah. I'm gonna stop posting in this thread, if you want to continue the argument, that's fine with me. Just, you know... PM me.

Maybe it can work within the existing system of events, a natural way that the soul is removed from the body (if we have a soul, I hope we do) and placed within a new one
Budahism?

Really, it's safe to use Christopher Hitchens as RE: everything about religion.  The guy's got his head on straight.

Wow, I never really thought about it that way. Thanks for that.
