Author Topic: Old beta user finally comes to retail (that's me!)  (Read 4716 times)

Well, if there's anybody still here from the "era of betaness", you might remember me.  I was General_Ducky back in the beta, and played it hours on end.  When retail came I was kind of disappointed at first, and waited for RTB to come to bring back the beta style gameplay.  Then RTB 2 came out and it pretty much lost everything that they did in the beta that was so great, so then I was even more disappointed.

Well, now that I've seen what's changed, the excellent brick physics (which I know are not out yet), and the multiplayer community, I've decided to come back and start the brick-building again.

I've tried the demo, and am extremely annoyed by not being able to building floating bricks, the limit to how many tools you can have, and the annoying brick interface, and the lack of bricks.  Whine whine whine whine...

It's still Blockland, though, and I've decided I'm gonna buy it, and start playing again.  Any suggestions for add-ons, or things I should know before I buy?

Hum, there's still lot's of v0002 players out there. Also I know how you feel about being dissappointed, I stayed at rtb for like, two weeks even though I had paid already, But you'll get used to it.

Well,

not being able to building floating bricks

NiXiLL made an add-on for that. Non-released, so just go PM him.

the limit to how many tools you can have

Chrono made an add-on for that, and can be downloaded here.

the annoying brick interface

What part of it is annoying? I got my ID back in January of last year but never really played until the following October, so I don't know what to compare the current one to.

the lack of bricks

It's insanely easy to make bricks, and loads of people have done so.
You could go browse the add-on forum a bit, and some are here, too.

I am from v0002, but I can't say I know you.

Saw you in my server when I was playing V0002 last week.

You coloured everything you found pink.

Don't remember you, but welcome!

The community has changed a lot so be prepared for a lot.

Highly doubt it, I haven't played v0002 in about a year.

Don't mind him. I'm from v0002 and RTB, but I've never met you before.

When many of the old users started playing Retail, they were bothered by the same things.  The more you play, the more used to it you get, and eventually you'll wonder how you managed to get by without the new stuff.

Old Blockland feels and handles like stuff coming from Retail.

Well, I have to say, the consensus of opinion has turned in these forums, mostly from folks who never got the opportunity to have v0002 AND RTB 1, which, IMO, is far better than the current system.

I tried the full retail last night, and it is pretty nice, but I desperately need an editor wand.  Gonna try out RTB 2.0 later today, hopefully.

Unfortunately, RTB isn't like 0002's RTB. It's more of an add-on/server control system than a drastic game change.

Better get used to building with real lego!

EDITOR WAND? GTFO YOU LAZY BASTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD!

Seriously, lern2build. Blockland's brick system handles much better, so you have better FPS and no stuff-ass looking builds with the wand.

I never saw you in 0002 / rtb / tbm / aio

Editor wand is no longer needed because of the brick optimization.
