I don't know if this post was before or after that chat we had, but the gnome is named Ramirez because it's a reference to the video that the picture links to where Avonick, who is playing as Nick, names the gnome Ramirez

Any time i refer to the gnome outside of referencing Profound Moments in Left 4 Dead 2, i call him Ramirez because that's the only official name for the gnome, and it's only official because it's stated in the description of the achievement for rescuing him
