Quite a fun game. I like playing as Bismark or Hannible or that celtic dude.
I only have the warlords expansion though, is the "beyond the sword" thing any good?
Discuse CIV IV here.

I have the song Baba yet on my ipod. :3

Beyond The Sword adds aton of new maps, aton of new leaders (including Honest Abe :) and some edited versions of some crap that eont even look like the game itself and most likely new units because i got the expansion when i got the original+most likely alot more tech

I love this game, I spent hours on it trying to destroy Spain which I actually succeeded at somehow seeing as they had like 1000 troops and I was struggling with my troops. But they had one more city or something and I never found it until much later in the game, Spain kept trying to take over their cities with a miserable force you can't even call a scouting party. Then Greece just HAD to declare war on me and ally with the Americans. I mostly cleared out Greece but the Americans were still there, I took their capital and yet they fought on, I eventually gave up on this days long game. It was fun though.

Usually I cheat like hell (Its fun to invade a 40th century BC tenochtitlan with 17 panzers) but one game I didn't cheat in was really fun. I got my own island to start on which never happens to me. Fully used up every inch of my island but was perfectly content on resources and food and stuff. Then in about 3 turns every single nation in the planet contacted me and I was wound up being involved in a 3 way conflict. Eventually I decided to join the side against egypt, since they were the closest to me, and I defeated them with ease but then one after another every other nation decided I was supposed to die, even though they themselves all hated egypt. I loving hate it when the computer gangs up on me...

I just remember how pikemen could destroy gunships by poking at them. It was a pretty fun game overall though

This game is fun but i end up wasting a hour and a half just cause i want to raid nations with only an army of tanks.

I like the opening music.

I dont think it got as much attention as it deserved in the end.

civ4 is a pretty accessible and intuitive game, but at the same time you can micromanage it pretty hardcore; it's playable for both casual gamers and hardcore strategy fanatics.

Beyond the Sword is totally worth getting, it adds a few checks and balances to the new stuff in Warlords, and adds a bunch of cool scenarios and the like.  If you do get it, though, I recommend that you turn off the Diplomatic Victory option unless if you want victory to go to the one who beelines to the Apostolic Palace the quickest in the medieval era.  I usually turn this off anyway though as even if I gain a diplomatic victory it's completely unsatisfying.

And yeah the AI will gang up on you pretty quickly if you don't have strong alliances with other countries, and if you have something that they want.  I find that you have to consistently be very aggressive to win a game of civ, which is hard for me.

I usually play as Ragnar, FDR, or Augustus.

Ah good 'ol Civ 4.
I've had it for a while, but then i got civ revolution for the 360 o:
un installed it for more room on my hd and here i am re-installing it :D

Beyond the sword also allows you to pick any leader for any civilization. When I play with the option on, I usually play as Bismark leading the HRE.

I play as Gandhi with the fast workers, which give me a huge boost in the beginning so I can more easily prepare for the barbarians later. I'm not exactly "peaceful" either, I start routing other countries as soon as I get catapults or swordsmen.

Man I need to play this game again.

every time i am about to start a level my time says "Ancient" is there any way to change the starting era?its a big pain in the ass to reach WWII or higher from back in the stone age lol
