Author Topic: Noo dandy, noo :(  (Read 2161 times)

You may probably need to be british to understand some things here.

Even though this is late news now, it's worth saying.
My favorite comic, The Dandy, which i used to buy since 1998 has transformed into a hunk of stuff, in 2000, it  was like this, it was great and there were comics all through the mags (Except for the ads, but they were so little)

Then came along this one, it was more of the same, some fart jokes came in but it was actually decent, actually, still great, it introduced some new characters that i'll love forever
But yeah, they should have cut down on the movie-promotional gifts.

And then in 2007.. came this hunk of stuff.

No, this ISN'T a photoshop, i swear, the overused fart jokes have been pushed into the comic, which soon turned into a 9 page pullout while in the Dandy's of before it was about 19, and that's nearly the entire comic, the actual comic strips themselves, are now full of fart jokes that don't even make sense, pointless gifts (Who here wanted a CD Promoting Bee Movie? I didn't ), old comic strips since they probably don't have the guts to actually think of something new. (Cheaply coloured 60's strips of Winker Watson and Desperate dan), stereotypical americanization (Just look at the cover) and they increased the price to £1.99, Wow.
I subscribed to the comic in 1999, and this is the first time i unsubscribed.

Anybody watched that episode of The Simpsons with Poochie in it? Well, that's exactly what the Dandy has turned to.

R.I.P, The Dandy, one of my favorite shreds of Childhood :(
I hope "The Beano" Comic hasn't turned into this yet, since i love comics.

The "Xtreme" marketing bullstuff kills everything.

The "Xtreme" marketing bullstuff kills everything.
Indeed.
And it's not just comics, this is also infecting TV.
The only comic i have seen that does this kind of humour right is Toxic, even though i don't even read that magazine anymore, there are fart jokes, but it's actually done right. and they don't overdo them, thus the comics are actually decent.

I used to like the comics in the newspaper, but they only come in my town every other day, which makes me sad.

But still, that sucks man.

Yes both the dandy and the beano have been ruined.

(i was collecting beano comics since i was like 6, but when it got to £1 i stopped, Now i just buy the annuals at the end of the year)

Oh stuff, it's Bananaman! I remember that when it was a cartoon on Nickelodeon! *nostalgias and looses*
Also, that extreme rabbit isn't too extreme for being censored. A real extreme rabbit don't play with censors.
