Author Topic: My External harddrive broke D':  (Read 2116 times)

I turned on my computer and it wouldn't light up. It wasn't connecting to my computer either. I'm calling tech support right now.

Atleast if I cant get it fixed I can get all my stuff off of it by sending it to them.

It has all my pictures/movies/tvshows/games/etc. on it D: I'm sad

Edit: Tech support told me to do the same stuff that I had already done to see if I could get it to work.  >:C

Well she's right, it's not really that important.

The content is still out there for you to get again. If you were smart, you'd realize that those things can fail and should have had a bunch of DVD-Rs on hand to back that up in the event of a crash or meltdown.

I'd be devastated if my external hard drive broke. So many pictures lost...

That's why I back up! A few weeks ago a program was interfering with Windows recognizing my external drive. I got really angry and started yelling. So much time spent collecting and refining, all gone! Fortunately I found the problem and I always keep a back up now.

I tested it with a different cable, It seems it starts to boot up then it turns off and repeat. I'm going to send it in the the company, they will take out the harddrive inside of it and put it on a new harddrive with a small fee :D yay

Any good websites that aren't too expensive that I can back my stuff up on?

Theres a free one called YOUR COMPUTER.

Also, you could open it up and plug the HD into your computer using IDE/SATA

O god all your anime is gone!

My external Hard driver died like 6 months after I got it which is about the warranty limit or whatever so I ended up throwing the HDD into my old computer. I might get a new one so I have a portable 10GB's.

I don't have enough space that's why I bought an external one...

I have a completly pointless 600g external hard drive with about 150 pictures on it...
I really wouldn't care if it breaks.
Though I may start using it in the next few month's as my computer is running out of space. :P
