I thought there would be a boat load of white bricks.

I just had the lack of them to emphasize the underbelly.

(I used most of the plates on camera and another project)

I'm thinking of getting this set for investment purposes: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Winter-Village-Cottage-10229?CMP=KAC-SAHCSNA&HQS=10229.

Is it worth it? I know winter themed sets do really well in the long-run, and hopefully it will retire this year - or even next year. I think it's an amazing set and it has over a thousand pieces, it's great for a set for that price. It's quirky. I may even buy a quantity of two. I just have a gut feeling that it'll do really well on the long-run, what do you guys think?

~2-5 years after production has ceased, Hard To Find and Exclusive sets tend to either hold or increase their resale value - and depending on the set, sometimes they rise dramatically (especially when still sealed). I'd say look at the reviews, and if they're great, and people are saying it's a great collector's item, then go for it.

Bionicles doubled in price after they were discontinued.

How much do they sell for on average now, since they were discontinued? Toy investing is relatively interesting.

Every normal Toa was about 8 bucks.  Now you can get them from bricklink for under 5  :cookieMonster:

Legos are not a good investment. Supply might be low of old sets, but the demand is pretty low as well.
