ya we need a buildoff

like who can build the best army including a base or something
armies are cool and impressive to be able to conjure up that many similar minifigs but it's not really a show of design or skill

This one time a few years ago, we got a bunch of those "blind-box minifigures" at my then-workplace, and the employee pricing on them was awesome.

Long story short, I felt up every single bag and now I have an army of space marines somewhere...

what was that rendered in? it looks pretty good

Unless I'm mistaken, POV-Ray. It's the LEGO community's favourite little rendering tool apparently, because they're the only people I see use it.

That's because of LDD2POV. It's damn slow due to the lack of hardware acceleration, but it's the prettiest LDD Rendering software other than using roundabout model exporting, hours of CAD work, and rendering in Maya or something.

Although it shouldn't take hours if done correctly. My rocket chair add on did just this - took and LDD file, exported to obj with some tool, and did some quick basic cleanup on it. Then, it'd be a ready-to-render model. ;)

Also, I realized I totally forgot to post those pictures of my household's Lego collection, so here they are.

This is the majority of what we have. Sorry some of the pics are so dark.
