Looks like love Blender.
Nonono, it looks like love in a blender.

Blender hurts my eyes for some strange reason, default viewpoint and rotating screws with me.
I've been trying hard to make realistic renders but I'm getting nowhere, I think it's my textures.
http://www.bricks3d.com is the best I've seen so far, yet I can't match it.

Blender does have a simple tut - http://web.olp.net/wildernesslodge/Bricks%20Tutorial.pdf
But I'm not the blending my eyes in a Blender type of guy.
I might keep doing cartoony style for now.

Guess the creature :D
Clue: it's from a game.

That thing towards the end of Gear of War 2 you gotta controls and it has turrets and stuff on it?

Here's my Red version of the 6743, it's way better red IMO for speed reasons :)

...Can't get transparency working though :/ maybe tomorrow.
Wtf

I just built a "Street Racer 6743" MOD, I'll get pictures of it as soon as I can get my hands on a decent camera.

Edit: I'll just post an LDD screenshot for now. [Note: I built this with brick before I built it on LDD]

Basically already posted :(

Haha dam! didn't see that, well we both have good tastes in colour :P

Naaa, a bit smaller then that. Good guess :)

MLcad, made custom parts with 3dsMax, then rendered it all with C4D.
L3P, L3PAO, and POV-Ray, they work a lot better with MLcad.
They also render the "LEGO" textures on the stud for fun, and everything's nice an shiny, unless you feel like doin' code edits.

Yeah, plus it puts spaces in the bricks, that I have to do manually now. I've moved onto a 64bit OS and POV-Ray doesn't like it one bit.
POV-Ray is too hard to work with IMO, camera angles and setting up everything is a real bitch ;)
Plus the only computer it works on is my old setup, rendering takes 10 - 20 minutes D:

Here's an example of the style of render I'm trying to do, via http://www.bricks3d.com
In the tutorial he explains the rendering side is quite simple and he didn't tweak much lol.

POV ray has not even one bit of a chance of doing that, or well without lots of code.
But it is a good program :) When it worked for me >:(

Here's a old render with POV-Ray I done with my old crappy laptop, took about 30 minutes haha.

The 6743 is just a really good looking LEGO car ;)

That's what L3PAO. L3P does the render specifics, L3PAO is for editing the necessities such as that with an easy GUI.

Indeed, still it's trial and error quite a bit with camera positioning and LGEO hardly ever worked for me, sadly L3PAO doesn't work anymore too :/ Might edit the files of my laptop then send them to my main for rendering.
But still, I won't be able to export to lightwave after minor adjustments with the spacing and studs with L3PAO.

Found out why my recent renders weren't doing so good, I need to use extended shader tree's and such :/

Oh well.

There's also the horribly complicated but totally worth it method of importing to Blender with the only existing LDraw importer, but

But hey, up to you.

Might give it a try one day, just for something to do.
You sound like you've done this all quite a lot :) Got any recent renders to show off to us? :P

Sure, I'll dig around.
Then again, this being my stuffty XP, I prolly don't have any here.
I'll make one now. :D

Aiight, n' awesome :)

I'm slowly getting there, just a few more renders :)
I think my lighting is where I need to work on, duel lights don't seem to make it any better.

My importer is being a meanie, and won't work.
I'll have to wait till my laptop is working again, it always works there.

I was just thinking about how amazing it would be if the 6743 LEGO Street Racer with it's LEGO look, was a Blockland vehicle.
