Close Combat is a little complicated.

A parry basically reduces damage done by an attack. If a minifig wants to parry an attack, then they roll against the attacker's attack/skill roll (not damage roll). If it equals to or is higher than the attack/skill roll done by the opponent AND equal or higher than the use rating of the weapon he's parrying with, then it succeeds. If it succeeds then you would roll the damage of the weapon that is used in the parry. Subtract this roll from the damage roll of the opponent's damage. If the remainder is equal to or else than your minifig's armor, he survives!

If the parrying minifig has two close combat weapons he can parry and riposte (parry and strike back). If you choose to do this then you take -1 to all rolls (skill and damage rolls) done by the minifig who is parrying. You go through the steps of parrying, then if they survive that you roll a normal skill and damage roll for the riposting weapon (with -1 due to riposting).

Read the countering part of this page for more help if you need it.

okay that makes sense, thanks.

but by the attacker's "attack roll" you mean their skill/accuracy roll?

nvm that lol

and you can't parry after you've rolled for your defense and it was less than the attacker's damage roll?

you have to announce that you're going to parry immediately after the attacker's damage roll?

Remember most minifigs just have a defense/armor of 4, not a number determined by a dice roll. Parrying reduces damage done by an attack.
Now for heroes, I'm assuming that you would roll defense (since they have a dice roll for armor) first then parry. Just so that if their defense fails they can parry and hope to reduce the damage down to their low defense/armor roll.

you have to announce that you're going to parry immediately after the attacker's damage roll?
You announce it when the other player announces that they are attacking in close combat.

okay, cool.

now what about steeds/horses? how do they affect the rider and their stats?

I had some trouble understanding whether or not their armor stacks with the minifig's armor or if it's separate.

how much armor do dinos get :cookieMonster:

I had some questions as well regarding minifigs. My question is, is it possible to have different classes, with special abilities and the like? I'll use my heavy gunner for an example. So say I wanted to make it so he could run faster than other minifigs with a minigun and body armor would, or his armor would act like heavy armor instead of body armor. Would that be possible?

I believe it depends on it's size.

Edit: Ofc, I wouldn't know.
