I'm starting to sweat if my triangle count even goes near 1000.
That's completely idiotic.

I actualy get worried too.

I only get worried when I get past 5000 tris. :/

Are third person models possible in Blockland?

That was the most uninformative question ever. Be more specific? As I read, I think you just asked if you can model something so you see yourself in third person. Do you mean like one model you see in first person, and another one you see in third?

No, that was a completely informative question.

A 'third-person' model would be the fix to everyone's problems. That would be, hands on guns in first person, but no hands in third.

I am assuming that there isn't a way to do that, considering no one has yet.

Oh, I guess he was linking that question with the conversation going on before he asked that. I didnt read it so I wouldnt know.

I think the only thing you can do is change the offset in the first person and third person views

You can use two different models, but that's only for when the item is spawned on a brick and when it's being held by a player, so you could have a box with a picture of the item inside and when it's picked it, it could be the item itself

I believe if one of the many empties you have to parent everything to in Blender isn't used/made properly the model is only visible in first person. I think that's how the invisibility watches work.

You have to UV map the textures.
I'm not using blender fyi
I'm using Bryce 5.5 (Free Edition.)
Plus I've almost got it down with ambient colouring, just need to test and render some things

EDIT
It works, just not the way I want it to. :|

If you have 100 LOD's on the model and 0 on the hands, the hand's wouldnt show in third person I have two weapons in my new pack doing this, and i hoped that no one asked how to do this, so i could be the first one :c oh well, Mr.jacksaunt must have read my mind.

The default weapons have different models for third and first person (hammer and wrench). Using 100 as a LOD can cause problems though, I suggest using something crazy like 9999. Otherwise it will be possable to see the hands on the third person model when you look closely.

The end of the wrench has this

Quote
detail9999 detail32 main start mountPoint Wrench9999 WrenchB32 Wrench WrenchB fire                ̪ª>                                       «ª*>                                                                       blankC       ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ  €?  €?

So is that where you get the idea of using 9999 for an LOD? Or did you just think of a high number?

Thats where I got the number except I used Showtool. I have used this method in random projects in Torque 3D, only problem is I had to modify the python file in the blender .dts exporter to allow for such a high lod.

I only get worried when I get past 5000 tris. :/
Holy richardtits are you serious?! With a 5k tri model you could only spawn like one or two of them before lagging to death.
