"Blender's just as good, if not better than 3ds max" wrong
I've used 3ds Max for a while already, and it can't even be compared to Blender. It is a ton more complicated, but it is more practical and comes out with better designs. People pay for things in commercial standard programs.
as someone who used max for 2 years and then moved to blender i have no idea what you're talking about

i'm not even saying x is better than y, i just don't get what you're doing in max that was so impossible/hard in blender.

Max is harder because it has more features and stuff.

And because it costs a forgetload Autodesk had to make it look like it actually does stuff.

Also there's no such thing as a good music player or a good 3d modelling program, people do art with MS Paint as well as with Photoshop, it just depends on the user.

If you use something for some time it's obvious you'll go around and talk about it because that's what you do and that's what you like, but that does not mean it's necessarily anything better than another program in terms of usage.

It can be better, if compared to features, speed and such, but one way or another, they can also be done with another program.

no I'm not saying Blender is hard, or that I dislike it. I love Blender a ton and it is every easy to use. I just want learn the program that industries use, because I want to eventually have a job it it.

See now that's a fair enough reason, and the one you should have used from the start instead of playing fanboy

how much did it end up costing you?

Usually you can get a 3Ds Max license for free as long as you are a student. I have a five year license so let's hope he took that route. Save money now, spend it later.

splinters are hard but fun

This has *not* been rescaled for Blockland yet, but this model is exactly the same dimensions as the real M-98 Widow from Mass Effect.

>Extrude face >edge slide bottom edge
Splinters!!

used boolean mods for this as well as a LOT of tweaking

but does it collapse into itself and fit conveniently on your back?
