If you need to move the origin back to the center of the geometry, select all of the geometry in edit mode, snap the cursor to selection, and then (in object mode I believe) move the origin to cursor.
Or press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + C while the object is selected in object mode. Blender can have some really funky shortcuts sometimes. Then you can use Shift + S to snap to center.

i was gonna make the other part of the latch but because theres such little space it just didnt look right

biggest difference: this one is going in-game. should be my first addon in what 4 years rofl

ever since i got advice teaching me that projects dont have to be finished in a single day, my work has gotten so much better. currently on day 2 of a character model with about 8.5 hours of work put into it (in total, with all bullstuff cut out), it's looking better than i've ever modeled. can't wait to share it when it's done.

made following the talented Andrew Price's recent tutorial

The problem with cutting progress to multiple sessions is that you can easily quit/get disinterested.

ive had this problem and everytime i just forced myself to open Blender/Maya i lost hours without realizing because it was more fun than i thought

it will be hard for me to ever get into using blender outside of blockland because not only is it a lot more difficult, a lot of the work made is really underappreciated.

just keep practicing and join some VR/game/art thing in college and suddenly you'll find everyone appreciates you.
