Lots of circular bulges in the back end, reminds me of DOOM3.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Sirris, back is too detailed compared to front. >:(

Fixed.

Maybe because it isn't finished. ಠ_ಠ

Impossible, everything is always done in 3 seconds

I'm hoping the ludicrously complex scope will balance everything out. That'll probably be the last thing on the gun I do due to it's complexity and the fact that I'd like to do it in one sitting, which I probably won't have time to do until Thursday. The stuff under the barrel will also help, but as you can see in the reference there's not a whole lot I can do about adding more detail unless I just bullstuffted and made some stuff up, but then it'd probably end up looking cluttered.

shameless first page bump/double post, yes yes, I know.

So basically, I made another bolt assembly that wasn't just a generic block of whatever in there. I think it looks great in object/edit mode, but when I render it it looks terrible if the light source is anything but flush with the bolt area because of the shadows. I placed the light source at a level position to take this picture.

So yeah. I'm honestly undecided if that looks better than the last dealy that was in there. If anything it gives you a fairly accurate idea of how little I know about the mechanics that make up the bolt assembly. Oh well. I'll put the old one in for renders but keep this version around for a bit. Off camera, of course.

This is for the future, but at some point I think I'd like to really accurately model a common gun like an M16 and fully animate it from the bullets being loaded in the clip, to the clip being loaded, the body would turn transparent and the mechanisms in the gun would be fully animated. As you can see though this would be pretty loving complicated.

How are you for modeling in Blockland Sirrus?

Could take a little adjusting to for you though Sirrus.

Since you always make really high poly weapons for the purpose of gazing at in awe.

Holy shat, Sirrus
As much as comments like that mean to me, they aren't entirely helpful in moving the gun along. Can I got some comments on the two different bolt assembly designs?
