Author Topic: The new and improved 3D model topic!  (Read 4673913 times)

Yeah I started it without any plans and it was kinda late. :|
Really the trap gun was a test, but then I started to like it and get serious about making it an add-on.

Also don't you use 3ds Max? I would think so, you said you paid over $3495 for it. :|

I have a student license.
It cost me about 400$

Wow. Good deal.

I'm assuming you use it to export/touch up your sketchup model?

Naw, i use milkshape.
It's easier, faster...

Etc.

Alphaic, just switch to milkshape or blender or something. Making it in sketchup will leave you with backfaces that you won't know are there, because you made it in sketchup, over poly models, not to scale models, messed up groupings and materials, a pain in the ass exporting system. I don't see why everyone chooses sketchup just because they pick it up and instantly know how to use it. I mean, at least ATTEMPT to learn blender, it can do SO much more graphics wise.

When was that tutorial again? Because the one on the site is confusing.

Say, is there a way to get the blockland playermodel in blender?

Wow any, you getting all that crazy stuff scripted? I think I saw someone with a pipebomb model already, but I forget who it was.

Pandan made that for Eheryk (sp?).

It's already done. I made the model.

Sketchup doesn't do this. The people who don't know how to use sketchup properly do this.

Im loving fed up with people bashing on sketchup.
It's the user. Not the program.

I don't actively bash on blender.
My preference is to use sketch up. Because im 100% fluent with it.
I know every tool, every trick. Everything.

Ive used it since it came out, and i love it.

My best models using sketch up.

It may look like a baby toy, and yes. Anyone can model with it.
But it doesn't mean that their models will be good.
I spent hours upon hours in sketch up modeling the AS-KR1.

I am not really bashing the program but the people who prefer it because they choose it due to its "easyness." They dish out crap with it within 5 minutes just because it only takes them 5 minutes. Then they start complaining about how hard it is to get it in game. I find that so annoying. When people prefer one program over another because of it is easy at first glance.

Yeah i agree.

People who release stuff that shouldn't be done is a problem.
And because of how easy sketch up is, it makes this process faster.

And trust me on this, Ive tried blender, Maya, 3ds MAX, and others..
I still find sketch up easier*

*Easier to replicate my designs on paper.
(Hence, sketch up.)

(Although, maya was easy :D)

I want to lern2blender, but heed stopped his add-on making class. D:
And the tutorial they give you for blender is so confusing.

So once I lern2blender, I shall just import my sketchup models and edit them to make it look pretty. :3

Also sketchup has some tricky parts. The follow-me tool didn't work for me to make a sphere. >:|

Because you can't make a sphere using follow me.
lol.

Unless you do some "cheating"
But, it leaves some spam faces on the inside.
