How do you make the background transparent when rendering?

How do you make the background transparent when rendering?

When in the render menu under where you select what file type you click on rbga which stands for red  blue green and alpha. Or something

Assuming you're using Blender, F10 for render settings, on the rightmost panel of that menu select RGBA and change the format from JPEG to PNG, on the second panel, change the selection from Sky to Key, then get your render set up and press F3 to save the rendered image.

Works fine for me.
