Author Topic: The new and improved 3D model topic!  (Read 4725253 times)

Plenty of cartoons are done with 3D models nowadays. I'd imagine it's a lot easier and faster to create new episodes with the cost of not looking as cartoony as traditional animation.

The cell shaded look is done in the rendering process (shader) not the model itself. An example in Blender that I found from the internet:
The anti-aliasing doesn't work for some reason. I think it has something to do with the +100 material and scene nodes.
Ah, makes sense. We haven't touched shaders yet, so I'll have to look into it.

Cartoony models will do then for anyone that wants to show something off.

I particularly like the style of the character on the left in Tommy631's topic from the following picture:

Tore the sights off of my old M416 model(didn't like it that much, fixing this stuff up.) and slapped said sights on here.

It looks nice and reduced a lot of time for me.

If I could do proper character/organic modeling and/or sculpting I would be all over your project. I will try to do something but I doubt I'll succeed. I've never actually modeled a character before. I'm better with single objects.

I wonder if I could model a Blockland solider thing like the army guy addon.

But instead use less datablocks (or whatever made everyone hate it) and make it look more blocko.

Well, if someone can do good cartoony characters, and someone else can make similar looking weapons and other environment objects then that's fine.

The models for our project don't have to be amazing right now anyways, we just need something functional. We haven't even drafted the project plan either. All I know is the theme is going to be gladiators, and that myself and my team member have decided on cell shading. If we can find someone, or some people, that is/are really interested and can dedicate the time voluntarily, as well as potentially work with them after school if we continue the project, then that's great.

Right head commisioned by Robin Ihoodl. Left head made as base model and for obvious reasons. Releasing within 2 days as hats.

Oh and Skele, polygon count limits?

Not too high, enough to make it look good but also cartoony as well.

I just added ejection ports for most of the weapons.

All that's left for the Carbines is the AKs-74u, which I have a model of, but I"m going to remake it anyway

This is kinda screwed up.

woah, nice.

Besides that, G36C roostering mechanism is a bitch to handle.
I'm gonna hate animating that

What I've tried to do is something like this:

Challenge: Someone make something like that.

I always wondered if I could make the Buggy from RAGE.

Hmmmm...
