I do mine with ImageMagick. It has a bit of a learning curve but it's amazing once you learn how to use it.

How to get anims as gifs?

I record them with an uncompressed avi recorder, then with virtualdub i convert it as a gif.

and results this

however the avi looks better because 60 fps :(
