It doesn't matter if they's any better, indy. I am totally incapable of doing anything artistic. I can't draw, paint, model, photoshop, or do anything that involves even a little creativity. But I can still identify if any of the aforementioned were done well.
Your models aren't the best, but that's alright. The only way to get better is to keep trying.
My advice to you would be to keep at it, model stuff that you like, fail a lot, and ignore Extrude. The dude has a prolapsed rectum and is in constant pain, hence his really mean posts. :\
