Blender might support fbx, but it is Autodesk's format, so maybe not. But if it does that will do.

what about .dxf

it can only export FBX unfortunately

There's a small bunch of different file types and some of the same file types but exported from another program, just in case, the archive file also includes the texture, but it's in TGA format if that's okay

Don't forget that there are tons of import/export scripts available, including a few that come with Blender and aren't enabled by default (at least in the newer versions).

I have all of them enabled, including ones that may have been in the 'Testing' category or whatever it's called

Hmm sorry, but it appears that Blenders import scripts are just borked. I can import the files into Maya and they have correct UVs and smoothing groups, but when I export them and bring them into blender, they are broken.

Maybe it's not Blender's fault, rather, it's just because different programs read the data from the file types differently than the program that exported it

Which is why it has varying results depending on the program and why importing the file from the program that exported it usually works better than importing the file in a different program

first model i've made specifically for bwockrand
ideas for stats and criticism of aesthetics plox
(i have already fixed the tiny holes in it)

the barrel seems too low, and rotated weird

spin it by like 12.25 on the z axis, so the sides are parallel to the chassis' sides

otherwise it's very good, nice and simplistic. not sure what the function is but if it's some sort of short-ranged plasma gun i'd press the end of the barrel (where it fans outward into a larger muzzle) a little bit back and maybe make it a little larger

12.5 degrees, not 12.25.

personally I dont think he should rotate it, the chassis is in line with the edges of the barrel at the moment, if he rotates it it might clash

but yeah the barrel is way too in line with the handle/trigger, I'd beef up the handle and move it upwards a bit

otherwise good

I'm with Bush on rotating the barrel, it looks weird being lined up with those plates on the side, would look less like just a cylinder if it had a different rotation on it.
