Author Topic: The new and improved 3D model topic!  (Read 4689727 times)

you know i should REALLY stop looking at this thread as it's seriously discouraging me from doing any 3d modelling
You actually should consider this topic as a way of inspiration, these people have been improving a lot with time, and we always give helpful tips to each other when possible, that's why this is one of my favorite topics.

Nah, don't let it. It just takes practice. I mean, lets look how I started out.

It's pretty embarrassing but it was my first 3d model. I was kind of discouraged at first but I just kept practicing

This thread is actually helpful if you want to become a better modeler, it just takes time to improve, and make sure to listen to any criticism you get. Honestly the one thing I recommend to all new modelers is to keep things simple

Heres something I made when I tried too hard to make things complicated when I was new to modeling:

It doesn't look good at all and there are plenty of wrong things that I don't feel like pointing out, but you can probably see those problems already

chill with the bevels and u solid
Someone said this about the model and I took his advice, which ended up in me making this shortly after

Definitely not my best work, but it's an improvement compared to whatever that awp was supposed to be

And here I am now with this as my best model

does the shied object just transform up and down because if it does and you do this on, say a roof, everyone a floor below you will see a random ass shield coming down through the ceiling

shield idea
instead make it grow from a super thin version into the full size from the ground up in a way that its bottom is always touching the floor

If anybody was curious as to what happened to this truck, I just have to say I've been lazy and kind of just put it off.
