Author Topic: System of a down.  (Read 1459 times)

It's amazing how these guys can write a song that makes no sense, and yet still make it sound good. For example: Cigaro. Sounds awesome, but makes no sense. What does the Guitarist's rooster have to do with regulators smoking cigars? Well, discuss System of a down.

I have a pillow made of Down

Ok wow just reading these comments made me think of Downy.

Robert "System of a" Downy Jr.?

Cigaro is about arrogant nations, imo

Netwars4's edumacated belief on Cigaro, using media inspired ideas

Cigaro: 'my rooster is much bigger than yours' refers to guns and artillery.
Cigaro: another common idea is that it is talking about how humans compete for everything

Radio/Video: speaking to the record company this time, System is forwarding the idea of records overcontrollingness

Chic 'N' Stu: obviously talking about the gluttony of America, following the story of a man who eats a pie late one night, gets addicted to pie, goes to therapy, and such
Chic 'N' Stu: Connections can easily be made to Daron's cocaine addiction at the time

I think that the song that makes absolutely no sense to me is Question!
It just seems more poetic than informative, but it's still one of their best

yeah the later albums lose a lot of what system originally was, Daron's ego took him over and he only wrote about what he wanted to write about, which were poems
whereas earlier on he respected what Serj wanted and wrote about politics and such

A lot of their later stuff was about politics, aswell.

And I think you've got it backwards: Serj is more poetic than Daron is.

Just look at Scars on Broadway compared to Serj's stuff.

No music topics please. Everyone has different tastes.

I should've thought of that before I posted this stuff. Locking.
