Author Topic: Fragmentation Grenade  (Read 2989 times)

Is it possible to create a grenade with a generally small explosion, but when it explodes shoots out fragments of metal like a pineapple grenade. The explosion and the flying pieces of metal would both do damage and the pieces of metal would have slight bounce and decent range.

Requires extra scripting, but entirely possible.

Sweet! Now the question is, will anyone actually do it? Most things in suggestions don't get made, but this seems like a lot of fun in a DM.

A flechette shooting shotgun would be awesome. Too bad guns are way too overplayed and generally overpowered.

Yes....anyone gonna work/working on this?

Not sure what a flechette is or does, sounds like a type of spike

it's a bullet with an arrowhead

Just to give you an idea.

What's particularly special about them?

You can shoot like 50 of them from a shotgun.......

I suggested this a few days ago, but all i got was a 10-year old saying how c00l it was.
Apparently ryanb has more notoriety than me.  :D

A fine suggestion!

Quote from: Wikipedia
Flechette rounds were developed for small arms for a number of reasons. Being very small and light compared to traditional jacketed lead or steel bullets, flechette ammunition weighs less per round, and thus an infantryman can carry more. Second is the issue of recoil — for the same amount of kinetic energy, a lighter bullet (with a higher muzzle velocity) produces less recoil, and thus less shot dispersion in automatic fire. The last reason was the emergence of lightweight, flexible body armor for the average infantryman. A very high velocity, small diameter projectile is able to easily penetrate body armor. Also its mass-to-piercing-area ratio was much better than that of regular bullets.
