Also, Jesus IS God, and the Holy Spirit. Its a trinity.

me too!

For one, if there isn't a god, how can things come to be? (Like the sun) The stuff in the big bang had to come from somewhere, and there has to have been a beginning. The only logical answer would be, yes, god.

How did god come to be then? what came before god?

It's brown townogous to asking "How does my car move?" and then stating "Well, I guess a magic, invisible fairy pushes it". Simply choosing to believe in a god raises far more questions than answers.

I believe that the size of the universe is like a sine wave. Expanding and then contracting into an extremely dense core which, upon reaching a critical level, rapidly expands outwards again. A cycle. The Universe has always existed.

There are many that would argue otherwise, using at as a way to disprove you.  I am catholic, but I personally, don't believe that religion is much more than a definition of how to live and something that gives people a purpose because they don't care to give themselves one.

Aha, well there's no proof saying he didn't exist. And I never said scientists believed he was the son of god.

EDIT: Also, this has been annoying me since I read it;

Well actually... A attaches to T and U. C only attaches to G. And along with that, A only attaches to U in the making of mRNA, So on a DNA strand you would find no "U"'s.
Woops, you're right. It's been a while since I last had biology. It doesn't really change the point of my post though :p.

Also, don't try and prove any religious stuff here guys.  The majority has no scientific proof so you really only come off sounding like an idiot.

*posts some religious stuff*

Forgot who, but some crazy scientist created a way to "kill people" but bring them back. He used poison to make humans survive on much less oxygen than usual. In the article I read it suggested that may be how Jesus got "resurrected," however no one could ever prove it and I lost the article. (My friend showed it to me so meh.)

The Universe has always existed.

You could say God has always existed.

Either way the topic of religion is always a rather idiotic and pointless discussion, one based more on opinion that facts. No one can ever prove God does or doesn't exist, whether people believe or not is their problem.

I wish that were true. Sadly we don't all live in our own worlds, we are all part of a community, part of nations. The religious beliefs of many hamper the advancement of science, prevent potentially life-saving research and convince people to stop looking out, but rather to look in.

Whether it be the Heliocentric theory or stem cell research, religion and the fear it is built on will always be a detriment to society. Millions have lost their lives to those beliefs.

This pretty much sums up the entire thread.

Religion is ok with me until religious nutcases get in the way of scientists getting stuff done. Example: evolution vs creation.

What I meant when I said that was that they cannot be forced to believe or not believe in religion, if they feel they have to they will. If they don't want to they won't. Not that their belief won't affect others.

If you think science answers all, think again.

People say that the universe began with the big bang, but what caused the big bang to form?
What made the big bang? The big bang just cannot appear out of nowhere, it is created by god.
Oh, and humans aren't monkeys, if we were monkeys, what is the proof? Nothing could survive without god, and if god wasn't here,we wouldn't be here, not having this discussion right now.

A cycle. The Universe has always existed.

No beginning, no end, no creation. Only an endless series of universes. Unlike more natural events (life and death, growth and decay, etc) the universe isn't subject to our typical concept of time.

The "proof" you demand is inside you and it all around you. Your DNA is only slightly different from that of primates and not vastly different from every other animal on the planet. In addition to this, the fossil record shows a multitude of stages in between the modern human and the prehistoric simian.

Just as religion doesn't have all the answers, neither does science. But the key difference between the two is that religion is built on fear, feeds off apathy and is often misused as a supplement for logic and reason. Science is willing to accept, and is actively in search of more accurate theories, it is built on and harbors curiosity.

You two are the exact kind of people that everyone in this thread is raging over.

I am not trying to convert you, I am only expressing my opinions.
