Hello.

Limpfittz Building Strategy:
This is a small guide, with tips on how to increase the quality of your build. It may sound stupid, but I actually get a lot of PM's and topic answers about how I build, and if there's some trick and so on, So I'm gonna make this post, and I really hope that I can help a few with it. Remember that I'm from Europe, and I don't have English as my native language, but I'll do my best.  I'm not the best builder - but someone needs to make this guide.

Respect:
This comes first, because it's the most important thing. It doesn't help you BUILD better, but you should really consider reading this.

1. Chat: Don't spam it
2. Privileges: DO NOT, EVER, ASK FOR ADMIN on a server where you WANT it.
3. Privileges: ASK for trust, don't send a trust invitation.
4. A main problem that haunts the chats in Blockland, SPELLING, spell well and earn respect.

Mistakes:
This is important, many Blockland members I've seen make these mistakes. Getting rid of all these comon mistakes is a great step to be a better builder.  I'll make a short list.

1. Don't build boxes! Think outside it, a house for example has many corners and twists, they're never boxes!
2. Always build windows on a house.
3. ALWAYS use as few bricks as possible to get the same result as you intended from the begining. This is important not just for the sake of the server admin, but Itäll help you later on.
4. Re-make EVERYTHING you're not satisfied with as quick as you see them.
5. Always build on baseplates.
6. Build first, wrench later!

Get ready to build:
I'm sure everyone CAN build, It's just a question of quality, and patience. Here's a small list of things you should think about:

1. Make a good template for your bricks. (Press "B" ingame, and re-arrange the bricks as you want them)
2. Make your self comfortable, get some snacks, sit down and relax before you start building.
3. Focus. Ignore the chat for a second, or make a closed server. It will help.
4. Patience; It's the key to good build, don't rush it, a good build can take weeks to finish.
5. Go get yourself a good color palette, I use Zonearks, but ask your friends wich one they're using.
6. Download the tools needed, I use Multigun, Duplicator, and the Fillcan.

Quality Building:

This is important, Look at the picture below.
Number 1 shows a good example of how many blockland users build their buildings, This is just wrong in every way there is, it's as I usually call it "Spammy". That means that it's avoidable.
number 2; has the exact same shape, but instead of using 26 bricks, number 2 only uses 19 bricks AND then I even made a doorway that looks 100% better than the one in picture 1.
number 3. This is what many blockland members forget, windows. They're not just there for the fresh air, they look good, and any building has them. so BUILD WINDOWS. On the picture you can see the design I chose, it's easy to build, and should not be all to hard to remember. With the window, the brickcount reaches 34. This is 2 bricks lower than picture number 1, wich had 36 bricks. And I even have a normal passageway, and a whole good-looking window on mine. Remember this.

Okey next step, you've learned the basics, and you probably knew them. Here's some tips on how to increase your build.
Number 4: I made a roof, a simple roof BUT with a twist, can you see the edges going outside the box? That looks good doesn't it? It's one of those simple things that you have to think about.
number 5 is important as well, remember to always think outside the box, this extension to the opening of my building makes the build look more alive, it got more corners wich also makes the build look more detailed. Don't use this technique all to often, it could ruin the build. DO notice the bricks have changed from 1x1, to 1x2 bricks! That's a VERY VERY important move that you should make as quick as you see an opportunity to do them.
number 6 is just some props, I have added a small path that leads to my building, and some trees, this makes the build more alive, and the surrouning is often more important than the build it self.

Last picture. This one shows you the build in color. coloring is a thing that takes some time to master. Here I've used brown, green, grey and black. With an advanced palette, you can make several tones of some colors, the one I use has many green, brown, and grey scales - that's the colors you use the most. Don't pain the entire building in one color, it's dull and it doesn't look good at all, try to connect the dirrerent parts of the building with eachother with colors. Also, try making some parts (like the trees) the exact same color that the original LEGO piece have. That makes the build look more like a set.

Strategy:
I have a certain strategy when I build, I guess everyone have their own, but if you use mine, you'll come a long way. Always remember to BUILD FIRST, WRENCH LATER. The wrenching is just a bonus to the build it self. I didn't add any events to this build, because I felt that it's not needed, if you feel that, then don't add any. Use your tools all the time, you probably need them more than you think, the duplicator is perfect for making copies of things you struggled to make 1 of. The fillcan is perfect for situations where you want to change the whole color of the build.  the multigun is a big more advanced, but it's great, It contains several tools like the Brick Print function. Always carry the Multitool Gun with you.

Eventually you'll get good. And then you can build anything. I started out just like you did, and I can build anything now, just like many of my friends here on Blockland. Just keep on trying!!

If you need any more help, post in this topic, don't send me PM's.
I've probably forgot many things, but I'll add them with time.

4. Re-make EVERYTHING you're not satisfied with as quick as you see them.

If I followed this word of advice I'd spend three weeks making the first room. I'm a perfectionist at times :D

Nice, I was going to make something for this, but gave up due to lack of self-motivation. Props to you!

This needs to be stickied.

That rule gets to me ;D

I delay work on a lot of projects from screwing around and going off topic and crap.
