Duckmeister: ARGUER OF THE YEAR!

I know that this in itself is arguing, but what arguing?  He and I agreed, and then he called me a moron, what?

Ronin has a knack that whenever something he holds dear to, in this case, his precious atheism, is attacked, he just misreads the rest of what the person said and calls them a moron for saying something that he himself agrees with.

Anyways, let's try AGAIN to get this back on topic.

Im gonna go ahead and say, Yuki has changed in my point of view. He is no longer "Hurr hurr hurr i am on internets". He took the whole "Yuki in enchanted arms" thread as a joke, which is good.

-stuff-

Anyways, let's try AGAIN to get this back on topic.
You aren't helping it stay on topic.

Well there are several reasons why nuclear power and other power sources other then fossil sources aren't being completely utilized over fossil fuel power, mostly due to political level deals and contracts. Ultimately there is a good group that benefits hugely from the current electric grid and they've pretty much tacked it in place for a good time to come, and that's why we've not seen much commercialized improvement in trying to overthrow fossil fuels in favor of any other power source in general even though much of the technology required to make a benefice in the system is very well off and developed.

There are plenty of alternative technologies being developped like say the Hybrid car for example but ultimately it leads to the same loving source (electricity being generated by a coal plant somewhere). Pollution is the main scare factor but that alone isn't nearly enough to overthrow fossil fuels, and the people handling this stuff are pretty smart in cunsomer psychology and have been jacking up fossil fuel prices due mostly to demand and partially to the increacing fact that we're running low on all sources. Those two factors aren't enough, now you pretty much need a huge event like a major economical collapse (Hello economic crysis!), but this will end up destroying a good portion of, well, everything layed down in the process.

Now you can start grasping how difficult it is converting power sources even partially, especially when it's all bolted to the ground and the coorporates are swift to knock out anything that might pose a problem or atleast help slow them down. The most visible example is the numerous patents for alternate energy technologies seized by automobile and fossil fuel industries. It's allot of small things that happen but it adds up to a huge delay on allot of projects and general expansion.

So essentially we are completely dependent on this stuff and we don't really have a choice in the matter either because all alternative energy industries are in a cryogenic infancy kept frosty by the current fossil fuel group. There are 2 remedies however, which are Political elements (such as the example Ronin gave, which is a restraint on coal plants to reduce emissions), and of course a complete meltdown of the economic system to basically weaken the industry. Problem with the last one is, we'll be pretty much wiping ourselves out in the process so naturally you'd want to avoid that.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I've gathered.

He is referring to the fact that you got your facts wrong. He is not agreeing with you on that, he agrees nuclear power is the way to go but the rest is pretty much wrong.

off topic but...

How is college going for you anyway, and how much time do you have left?

I completely, and wholeheartedly agree.  That's exactly what I said.  Nuclear power growth has been stunted by political deals and contracts, besides the fact that it's difficult to replace the coal plants in the first place.

Exactly what I freakin' said, and I get called a moron.  *sigh*

Around 1 year, going to work a bit after that to amass some lab experience and eventually go for a doctorate. My grades are too average to net me any kind of advancement in education after this degree so I need to work it off. That's fine, I love labwork.

MuffinMix, you basically fluffed up the line "Fossil Fuels are popular because they pay the government a lot of money" into 3 paragraphs, restating and rephrasing the same stuff over and over again until you were content with the size of your essay.

Then Duck agreed because it sounded smart.

I'm seeing a pattern here.

That's not what I was arguing about but sure, I'll bite into the fact that you're accusing me of wrongfully repeating myself.

My post was essay-like, it has an abstract introducing some of the major points, body expanding on said points and other points of interest and a conclusion that ties everything together. People read the abstract, continue if interested or discontinue if not. I'm flattered you think it's like an essay.

I could have easily said all that or implied it in a short, mysterious response but do you think anyone would have gained anything from that? No. Do you think it would have moved them to take up any interest in the subject matter? No. I'd just leave my piss mark and leave, what a great contribution. Instead of that I decided to elaborate.

I used the word essay in regards to the sheer volume of words that you used to iterate a couple of statements.

wait, parole? what did you do that you are nao on parole?

Everybody's got an opinion.

Everybody's got an opinion.
Ya, but most people's opinions are wrong.

I liked Muffinmix's post. What he said could have been done in a few short sentences, but it may have been overlooked by most people. Most people would take such a long post more seriously as well.

Oh boy, carbon nanotubes!
