A chemical bond is the binding of electrons. Sure, bind is in there. But by saying that the molecules bind, you're saying they chemically bind, which although is correct, isn't what scientists refer to it as. They call it a bond, so bond is the correct term in this situation.

Language speaking, yes bind and bond mean the same thing, science terms bond is.
