Author Topic: Re: v12  (Read 3073 times)

This is just a list of things I, personally, want to see in future versions of Blockland.  Not necessarily in v12, but since it's next in sequence ... whatever here's the list:

- SNOT building. SNOT stands for Studs Not On Top and is the reason that things like this can exist.  It's also the best way to do realistic bricks.

- New Pieces. I'd love to see some of the new curved slopes, jumper bricks, and any number of the smaller pieces that would allow for a realistic level of detail in our builds. To be fair I know about all the Add-On part pack things out there but most of those are rather low quality and don't reflect the current selection of official LEGO parts that are out there.

- LDraw support.  ROBLOX has a very primitive version of this, but basically this would be the ability to build something in LDraw and then import it into Blockland as a build.

- And while I'm dreaming I'd like a way to build vehicles out of bricks. You'd have the seat bricks (Pilot's seat and passenger seat), wheel/tread bricks to build on, and some official windscreens to reduce the amount of flat fronted cars and trucks.

Again this is just a wish-list at best, I don't offer any suggestions about how to implement these changes nor do I know enough about the Torque game engine to know if any of these is even remotely possible; I just think that these would make BL exponentially more fun to play.

Also known as "Studless" builds. Those would be nice but unnecessary... Better if they were add-ons (Plus they're easily done)...

1x4x1 and 2x4x1 pieces would be nice, too...

ROBLOX and Blockland have different engines, so I'm not sure this is possible...

This question has been ask so many times, yet answered the same way. No. It's impossible for the engine to do because bricks are on a grid-system that won't allow it to move like a vehicle...

I love the New Pieces suggestion, I do believe we need a bit larger selection of bricks.

1. I agree. That would be a good feature.

2. I had a huge thread in suggestions full of bricks I wanted...

3. Why would you need that? It totally defeats the purpose of playing the game.

4. Not possible anymore. Bricks are static.

Also you should add like bricks being able to go sideways instead of just up like a 2x2 block but it can go sideways and stuff... you know what nvm your just ganna flame me for the impossible idea...

I'm gonna say you mean you want bricks that go sideways? Diagram:

Not sure this possible but I know in vanilla you could do it...

1. Would be a swell feature.
2. I always needed more bricks... I have to use smaller ones to make the ones I want.

^agree
4. Yes it isn't possible, though it would be interesting if someone make a program that let you "build" the vehicles in Blockland type program then have the file/vehicle creation transfered to Blockland, in other words you build it in another program and transfer it to BL, and you are able to ride in it. The program behaves like Milkshape with it's spawn points and crap.

uhm... yea i geuss so but... uhm... that diagram just confused me...

1. I would like to see underwater builds not always having water in them.
2. More bricks >:D
3. If possible, bring back mission editor.
4. Elevators, new doors, moving windows, etc.
5. Physic glitches fixed (bug fixes are all v12 will probley be)
6. Something unexpectied but cool :)

off topic: Badspot/kaje?(or is it kompressor?) did a nice job on v11, lets just keep it at that ;D

3. If possible, bring back mission editor.

It's back, search!

I remember a discussion a while back that rendered those curved bricks impossible.

1. You can do this by deleting a single file in Blockland's root directory.

2. You can do this by punching in two lines of code, adding a server.cs and a description.txt

3. Just build it, really. This basically makes Blockland a modeling program that you can walk around in.

4. I highly highly doubt this would be possible with Blockland's current engine. It might be possible with an add-on that mimics bricks, but are a completely different entity. Bricks are just faces that are rendered, from what I've gathered, and not individual models (like they were in Vanilla days). This might be possible if an add-on added the model version of blocks back in, but then you'd have to get into a garry's mod-esque system of welding blocks together so they can collide and function as single entity- which sounds sketchy on Torque.

1. This would take some really crazy script that I doubt is possible.
2. Meh. I can build fine with the bricks we have, personally.
3. It works fine, it was actually partly FIXED in v11
4. Elevators/doors/trader mentioning windows are fine as add-ons, I think.
5. Yeah, v12 is likely gonna be ironing out the issues
6. Sure?

And yeah, it was kompressor.

I can't see how that's possible. Link?

Which one?

Which one?
Dig around in there. You'll know which one it is when you see it if you have thumbnails on.

Hes right, it’s a block :D
