Author Topic: Let's Play TES!  (Read 7175 times)

I have Tribunal so I have no propblems with the darkbrotherhood armour.
Oh, whoop, but we may start doing Bloodmoon stuff.

By the way, it's Wedge's turn.

I will definitely play.

I wander into the house and find the shelves full of bottles. This won't do. I pick up every single object that isn't bolted to the floor. I head over to the clothier and sell all the random clothes I had in my inventory (3 pairs of shoes really weigh you down). Then for good measure, I went up into her bedroom and stole all of her bottles and silverware. I dumped all of the assorted plates I collected at the outfitter and then promptly headed back to Seyda Neen. Surprised you, didn't I?

I went over and found this guy. He's testing a new experimental scroll. It goes horribly wrong and he falls about 500 feet, lands right on target (his journal he dumped on the ground) and dies. He drops a nice enchanted sword, misc loot, and some useless scrolls which I'll just store back at home on the shelves I just cleaned off. Maybe after we get a slowfall spell someone can use them to map the island, which is always a fun thing to do.

Now there's a whole quest here involving a missing tax collector, and will net you anywhere from 500gp to 700gp and 2 health potions. I track down the missing tax collector and return the taxes to the guy back in the census office (because I'm really a nice guy, ignore everything you're going to hear about Ald-Rhun in a few hours). He tells me there's a bounty on the guy who killed the man. So I head over to the lighthouse, find out that the lady living there liked this guy and knows who killed him. I track down the man and demonstrate the new powers of this awesome sword I picked up.

I've got no pictures for this, but there's a slaver cave right next to Seyda Neen. I head in and kill the first slaver. Then this crazy mage comes running at me. They've got this spell of noob killing. Every time I go into this dungeon on a new game they kill me like 4 times. I've got a system worked out now though, and it's pretty similar to an exploit in another RPG, Baldur's Gate. I put a door between them and me. I leave it open and they cast a spell. When the spell comes at me, I close the door. Spell is wasted. When they're magic runs out and they chase after me with the dagger, I beat him down with my doom sword of electric maiming. The rest of the dungeon is pretty uneventful, there's some lady who throws chitin shurikens or whatever they're called at me. In here I find a steel saber, possibly the best non-enchanted blade we've run across so far.

I sell the useless loot in town and then head back to Balmora to stash all my drugs in my shack.

Ald-Rhun! City of lights, city of magic! Nope, that's Mournhold. Ald-Rhun is a dusty stuffhole frequented by ash storms right in the middle of a volcanic plain, where a bunch of rich people decided to make their homes in the rotting carcasses of some giant crabs. I'm going to rob them of every last ash yam and extravagant shoe they own.

To be continued...

Log

Immediately upon arriving in Aldrhun, I head over to the Rat-in-the-Pot. I quickly enlist in the theives guild and receive my first task: rob an empty mages guild and grab an enchanted sword. When I get it, it turns out it's not really empty, there's a guard in there. After dispatching the guard, I loot the entire building. If you happen to go by there, don't sell them any ingredients. They'll mistake them for the ones I stole and attack you.

Anyway, so I get another job. Steal this fancy helmet from Arobar Manor. It's out in the open, but that doesn't make it easy to steal. There's two people watching it. I talk to them so that they are facing away from the helmet. Then I hide as close to the pillar I can while still being able to grab the helmet. I casted chameleon to boost my hiding skill and... Success. I get the helmet.

On my way out, I ransack the place and loot myself a fancy new outfit. It's an exquisite shirt which has one of the highest enchantment ratings in the game (for a shirt anyway), so don't sell it in case someone decides to make themselves a shirt of feather or slowfall or something.

I level up while I'm at it. Here's the options I picked. I head back to the inn and collect my fee for the helmet. He gives me another quest: acquire the something-or-other pillowbook for Arobar manor. That chest is level 75, I can't handle it yet, so I put it off for someone else to do.

While I'm selling all the clothes I stole to the clothier conveniently located within the shell, she mentions that there's a man who bought stuff from all the local merchants on credit and never paid up. So I go out to find this guy. He says that he doesn't have money to pay them back, and he's not giving the stuff back. I've got two choices now, kill him or leave him alone. I pick leave him alone, and then notice the religious text on his table. I pick it up and start preaching to him. He gives me all of his ill-gotten goods and then swears to give up his life of being a huge prick to serve the temple. How noble.

Since he didn't ask for his book back, I just went and sold it. Then I returned the goods. The shopkeepers were all happy that I didn't kill him. I get a decent discount at all of their stores (read as 40 point disposition boost) and a free reputation point. Cool.

Oh yes, this lady. She has a portal to hell in her basement locked behind a door. That means it's okay to kill her. So I do. Free house. She's a dreamer, apparently she controls the minds of all those annoying people in Balmora who wander around and whine about the 6th house later in the game. By killing her I freed one of them... somewhere. If you can figure out which one it was, there's a free reputation point to be had.

I return to Balmora to dump some of my new stuff, mainly clothes and a brand new set of journeyman level alchemical equipment, all given to me free of charge courtesy of the fine people of Aldrhun.

Since I can't advance in Aldrhun anymore because of my low skill, I head over to the Balmora corner club. There I get a few easy quests: find a diamond, fetch a key, and grab some artifacts out in Hla Oad. The dwemer artifact quest is the only one of any interest, so it's the only one I'll talk about.

First, I have to get to Hla Oad. If I thought Aldrhun was a stuffhole - and it is - wait until you see Hla Oad. I went a bit over my 4 day limit just to get myself out of there so the next player didn't have to start there and try and find their own way back.

You're probably wondering why I posted a picture of a river. It just so happens that easiest way to get to Hla Oad is to swim all the way there on a river. Pretty lame. I get there and the bastard won't give me his artifacts. So I kill him and take them. I return to Balmora (one boat trip and two silt strider trips).

Once there, I realize it's time to finish up my turn and prepare for the next turn. I unlock all the chests and stow away all of the random clothes and armor I forgot to sell (by the way, save the 4 pick axes in the chest, someone in Solsthiem will need them). I sort all non-essential gear onto the shelves for the next person to pick out what they need. All of the alchemical ingredients are in the jewel box - except for the large kwama eggs and 20 pounds of rat meat that were to big to fit in there.

I went out and buy some useful spells. I don't know how many you'll actually be able to cast, probably none, but I did remember that I found the spellbook woefully short, so it's a bit bigger now. You can always practice some spell casting.

Then I remember my biggest complaint. We have no skill in light armor so the whole suit was giving like 2 armor. So I went out to Caldera and bought some nice armor. You can see it in the picture. I think it's made of steel and silver.

The save is in Balmora, in the house Marcem took over.

Final notes:
o There's some "poisons" on the lower shelf by the door. You can't put them on a blade, you'll drink them and hurt yourself. Sell them to creeper or something. I just made them to level alchemy.
o You've only got two weapons now: a sparksword and a steel saber. If you happen to like to carry around enough weapons to field a small army, creeper has a flamespear he'll sell you for 111gp or something like that. He's also got an imperial broadsword which is pretty good.
o I added notes to Aldrhun and Balmora. Keep the tradition alive and annotate the hell out of the map. Use it as a travel guide, and write more for the next player.

I'm confused right now. I was kicked out for not haveing Bloodmoon but as long as we aren't a werwolf yet and don't own any bloodmoon specific items I can still play. Just for the hell of it I'm going to download the save and mess around. Screw you guys too.

I don't think you messing with the save will do anything, considering wedge posted the most recent before you do anything :o

Then do it.  Post it after everything, I don't think Digmaster is doing stuff.

All you have to do is press "yes" every time it asks you and the file will correct itself. Ok I'll try this out but I don't know what we are doing. So we are going to play theif guild?

Edit: I'm making a log and taking pictures but I don't know if it will be 100% glitch free if any of you try to open the save. I will continue anyways because I didn't get any glitches and I know that instaling a exspansion won't break the old saves so logically playing the save (even though I had to fix it to work for me with out bloodmoon) on a copy with bloodmoon should not glitch at all.

Edit:Expect it in a day or two.

24 Hour limit.

Wait, whaaaaa? I forgot about that! Oh well I don't know if I have time to finish this tonight and I don't get back tomorow till after the limit. I'll just post how much I have done by the end of today if I have time to do much more before I have to go.

Edit: don't have time to finish tonight and I don't want to go over 24 hours so the following zip has all the pictures, my log, and the save. When you first start playing it if any boxes popup just hit yes to continue on all of them (the game will fix all the incompatability automaticly), but if any of the boxes come up after later loads I think that it may not work as well as it should and Wedges save should be used again and my save should be ignored.

May I join you people?

I might join, but I'd probably have to get my turn on a weekend, college and all.

Oh wait, Its my turn :D

Should I use Chub's save or Wedges? Also its in-game time (24hrlimit), correct? I'll get started on my turn late today or tomorrow.
